Session Overview
Led by Hazel O’Halloran, founder of Synergy Safeguarding, this session explores key legislation, types of abuse, risk indicators, and how to respond with confidence and care.
Whether you are frontline staff, a volunteer, or in a leadership role, you'll leave with actionable tools to embed safeguarding into everyday practice and create safer, more accountable communities for all.

About Synergy Safeguarding:
Hazel O’Halloran brings over 25 years of frontline and strategic safeguarding expertise having worked across housing associations, local authorities, adult social care, and the charitable sector. Trained as a Specialist Practitioner in Safeguarding Adults and a certified Train the Trainer for both children and adult safeguarding, Hazel has led transformative safeguarding initiatives from Board level to community outreach.
Founder of Synergy Safeguarding, Hazel now leads a consultancy that equips organisations and contractors with training, support, and a three-tier accreditation framework to help build safer workforces and communities. Her work spans commissioning safeguarding audits, managing governance and risk indicators, and embedding safeguarding into learning and development strategies. Hazel also serves as a Non-Executive Director for Brighter Futures, a WISH Board member, and mentor for the Housing Diversity Network. Her approach blends strategic integrity with personal empathy, ensuring safeguarding solutions are both impactful and inclusive.
