New virtual volunteering platform to be launched in 2022.

The brand new website will ask potential volunteers to create profiles detailing their skills, experience and time commitments, plus create a space where organisations can promote their volunteering opportunities.

For the last 18 months the VCS Alliance has been working with system partners to conduct detailed research into volunteering within Gloucestershire. This have taken the form of surveys and focus groups with volunteers, workshops with the VCSE and interviews with key stakeholders. The work resulted in 27 recommendations being made which taken to the Enabling Active Communities and Individuals Board (EAC-I) for agreement and sign off. The full process is available as a Sketchnote (see attached).

One of the key recommendations, and the one we will take forward as a matter of priority, is to establish a new countywide online platform to broker volunteering. The new platform will be live in the New Year and will act as a central portal for organisations to create a profile and start to promote their volunteering opportunities. Potential volunteers can also create a profile with their skills, experience and time available and offer it up to organisations looking to recruit. This new platform will provide a dynamic online environment for volunteer brokerage across the county.

To support this project long term we are recruiting a member of staff to oversea the development of the platform. Their role will include promoting the platform the sector, create awareness amongst the public, and support the creation of content for the site. We will also be recruiting a small team of volunteers to support the role of this project.
