Campden Home Nursing has received funding of £2000 from The Hospital Saturday Fund to help grow its Bereavement Services.

The charity has been providing free Bereavement Services to those who are experiencing a life-limiting illness or the recent loss of someone close, from their base at Jecca’s House, in Chipping Campden. However, as the service outgrew its facility, a new therapeutic space has now been purpose-built, enabling the existing counselling suite to be used as a dedicated indoor space for children’s Play Therapy.

The Hospital Saturday Fund aims to provide help through its charitable funds for registered health charities, hospices and medical organisations in need of grants for medical projects, care, research or support of medical training within the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Helen Makaritis, Chief Executive Officer for Campden Home Nursing, said: “We are delighted we can now meet the need for Bereavement Services in our community. We are so grateful to the Hospital Saturday Fund for the grant, which has helped fund new therapeutic spaces for our Bereavement Services. Provision of the new counselling cabin has also enabled us to facilitate additional therapeutic space to work with more children, teens and adults from our community and catchment area.”

The new counselling cabin is set in the garden of Campden Home Nursing’s base at Jecca’s House

Campden Home Nursing’s new purpose-built therapeutic space is set in the beautiful garden of Jecca’s House. Here, three qualified bereavement counsellors Cathy Turner, Val Parsons and Diana Spencer meet with their teen and adult clients for one-to-one counselling.

The original counselling room in Jecca’s House has been converted into a Play Therapy room. Here, Trainee Therapeutic Play Practitioner, Anita Dee, supports bereaved children or those facing the impending loss of a loved one, from the age of 4-12 years.

The therapy aims to help children make sense of the loss of someone close to them. Play and art is used as a child’s natural form of expression and communication to help them explore and express their feelings.
